LegalZoom is an online service that helps people find and fill out legal documents. Online legal document repository LegalZoom has raised $66 million in its most recent round of funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Institutional Venture Partners. That brings the company’s total funding to over $100 million.
The site makes its relatively easy to do simple legal functions such as writing a last will, incorporating a business, trademark a name or creating a real estate lease. The fact is that paying a lawyer to draw up these documents can be expensive and LegalZoom wants to democratize legal document creation.
Services includes documents to create a last will and testament, filing to incorporate a business, trademarking a name or title or filing for a divorce.
LegalZoom was established in 2001 and has served over 1 million people. The company’s goal is not simply to provide a smart, cost-effective alternative—but to transform the way people think about and fulfill common legal needs.
