If you are, you’ll want to keep the weekend of Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th March free, because Hackathon London is offering you the chance to impress potential investors, employers and peers – and nope, they won’t try to charge you, no matter how much you try to make them.
Investor and award-winning entrepreneur Mark Pearson is inviting you to The Clove Building, Butlers Wharf, in the shadow of London’s Tower Bridge, where you’ll have 48 hours to develop new ideas or work on a current project with your team.
Mark is the founder and CEO of Markco Media, the company behind MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, and has an ever-extending investment portfolio. His investments, the majority of which are residents of The Clove Building, include companies such as games development firm Noisy Duck, citizen journalism website Blottr.com and mobile application company VouChaCha.
The resident start-ups, including Markco Media, are actively recruiting and will be heavily involved in the weekend.
A number of APIs will be available for projects throughout the hackathon, including social web influence company PeerIndex, Europe’s largest online fan-to-fan ticket exchange website seatwave.com, cloud communications firm Twilio, realtime messaging service Pusher, Europe’s largest voucher and deal network Markco Media and VouChaCha.
There’ll be guest speakers and mentors throughout the weekend from the world of technology and retail, who’ll make themselves available to provide advice and guidance. Here is a list of those confirmed so far:
– Nic Brisbourne, partner at global venture capital firm DFJ Esprit
– Hugh Chappell, the founder of trustedreviews.com – sold to Time Warner/IPC media – and bit-tech.net, sold to Dennis Publishing.
– Ross Berrisford, founder of group buying website Crowdity, sold in 2011 to Wowcher.
– Ross Williams, investor and founder of Global Personals, a network of more than 7,000 online dating and friendship websites
– Other high profile names to be confirmed
So, if you’re looking for a job with some of the UK’s leading online firms, looking for investment for a project of your own or looking to start your own business and simply want to spend time around other like-minded people, you won’t want to miss Hackathon London, on the weekend of Friday 23rd – Sunday 25th March.
Oh, there will be free food and drinks, too. Visit www.hackathonlondon.com where you can sign up for free.
