The first few minutes of each day of our lives set the tone for the rest of that day’s waking hours. It is important to greet each day with positive intention and action as this can lift our spirits dramatically and help us remain productive for the entire day.
The following are some inspiring ways to get up and at ‘em any day of the week.
1. Thought of the Day
One positive way to start your day is to choose and internalize a positive quotation that can double as your thought of the day. You could choose a quotation like this to get you started:
“Challenge yourself with something you know you could never do, and what you’ll find is that you can overcome anything” – Anonymous. One of the best websites to find such inspiring quotations is quotery.com. It’s an encyclopedia of quips, quotes and proverbs!
You can wake up to your favorite piece of music to positively jumpstart your day. Music gives us a sense of harmony, can touch us deep down in our hearts, and soothes us with it’s healing effects.
An upbeat playlist might be more motivating than something more depressing, as the tone of music can have a strong influence on our mood and thoughts. If you are a vocalist or instrumentalist, you might seriously consider using the morning hours for practice time.
3. Prayers and Meditation
If you are a believer (in any faith), then offering prayer upon waking can have a humbling, freeing effect on you. Once you feel that you have surrendered everything to your higher power, your burdens may begin to lift and you can move through the power of your lord.
If you don’t subscribe to the traditional idea of prayer, try meditation. It will calm down your nerves, quiet your mind and help you feel happy and contented.
4. Yoga and Workouts
Jogging early in the morning can give you the momentum you need to move through the day. Yoga relaxes the body and rejuvenates the organs. By remaining physically fit, you promote your mental health and overall well being. Take an early morning walk to a nearby park to feel your body exclaim, “What a great start to the day!”
5. Motivational Reading
If you love to learn and to read, then choose a passage and sit down with it for 15-30 minutes in the morning. This method of starting your day typically works best for people who are passionate about reading. You can choose motivational texts that have been printed or are available online.
6. Breakfast with Family
Many families have grown out of the habit of eating together due to the varying schedules of family members. Yet, one of the best ways to start your day is to sit with all your family members and have breakfast together. There is nothing quite like building and maintaining positive relationships around you.
7. Indulge in your favorite pastime
The notion that hobbies and pastimes should be suspended until you finish all of your work is bogus. We have to find time for the things that feed our souls. The morning can be the best time to do something you just love to do.
Since each one of us is passionate about our hobbies, be it photography or writing poems, sketching or creating embroidery, we can spend some quality time doing just that — doing what we love to do — and then move on to the day’s less fun tasks.
A late and hurried beginning to each day may not offer you the inspiration and motivation you need. In order to supplement these inspirational daily launching pads, you may want to try getting up early, first thing in the morning.
That initial impulse to stay in bed will go away quickly if you fight it and you will reap the benefit of some extra time for the things you need and want to do. So, consider rising early and do any of the above to feel a positive difference.
Make a great choice today and start your day right!
