When you first bring a new member of staff into the company, you often neglect how much training they are going to need. You might initially think that they’ll pick things up rather quickly, but that’s not always the case.

You need to ensure all their equipment is safe to use by regularly testing it. Then, you need to always be on the lookout for hazards such as spillages.

Everyone in the company needs to be trained on the right health and safety processes to ensure they can look out for each other. Knowing how to spot a potential issue is crucial, as is knowing how to operate dangerous machinery effectively.

You’re going to want to implement additional fall arrest safety features if they’re working at height. They also need to understand how to use them. No-one should be carrying out dangerous work without being well-educated first.

Of course, there are other things that you might want to train them on as well. If your business is customer-facing, you’ll want to ensure that everyone conducts themselves properly. These people might be walking around the building on a regular basis, and they’ll be put off by inappropriate behaviour.

Just a small training session could be enough to educate your employees on the right mannerisms to display. There aren’t many limits when it comes to training, either. You could teach them about how to use the internet safely.

Alternatively, why not teach them about first-aid in case of an emergency? It’s all very beneficial, and it could come in useful at some point in the future.
