TuneIn Radio iPhone App Is As Good As Pandora

TuneIn is a new way to listen to the world through live local and global radio stations. TuneIn offers over 50,000 stations and 120,000 shows for you to choose from. The TuneIn Radio app lets you take this entire experience with you on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

TuneIn in October recorded 30 million active users listening to 58,000 different stations from all over the world, with 200 new streams, podcasts or on-demand channels added every day.

According to Onavo as published on GigaOm , TuneIn Radio was the top music service on the iPhone in October, with 6.6 percent of users on the service at some point during the month. TuneIn came out ahead of Pandora (5.8 percent) and Spotify (3.6 percent), while all other music services had less than one-percent penetration.

TuneIn Radio allows you to pause and rewind any station as you’re listening, add the stations, songs and shows you love most to your presets, shake your phone to hear new stations based on what you already like, share a station, show or song with your friends on Facebook or Twitter, play your stations in the background while you use other apps.

Grooveshark (Free Music Service) Has Now Integrated Social Networking Features

Grooveshark, a free music service has added social networking features and some design changes aimed at simplifying the site and emphasizing music discovery. Grooveshark is a web-based music application built for anyone on the internet to listen to music on-demand at no charge.

Users have the ability to listen to single songs from over 15 million songs, save playlists. Grooveshark also allows artists and record labels to promote themselves through the application with rich site takeovers, advertising based on a slew of targeting and demographic data, and getting their music straight to the ears of the music fans most likely to love it.

Grooveshark Creative Director John Ashenden and the company’s SVP of external affairs Paul Geller told GigaOm that the updates is about building a solid base for some big future changes.

Ashenden further stated that the new changes is “the first real push from Grooveshark to connect music fans with music fans.”

Voting begins now. Everyone is eligible and encouraged to vote. You may vote once per day, per award category, until voting closes on January 19, 2011 at 11:30pm PST.
