Rock Health: The Seed Accelerator Exclusively For Health Startups

Rocket Health is a seed accelerator exclusively for health startups providing capital, mentorship, operational support and office space in San Francisco. The program’s mission is to enable and empower an entrepreneurial cure for the relative lack of innovation in the health sector.The world of patient care and healthy living is foreign to the technological creativity found in social media, games and other verticals. Rock Health directly targets the gap between these ecosystems, enabling high-impact innovation.

Startups partake in an intensive multi-month program, turning ideas into products and businesses. They recently selected 11 startups for this first term.

PatientPad Wins ’2010 Cool Technology of the Year’ Award

Every day, millions of people use electronic kiosks to check in at the airport and digital signature pads to buy their groceries. Yet most of us are forced to fill out our name and address multiple times on a paper clipboard each time we visit a new doctor. PatientPad™ is changing that.

Digital Assent’s self-service patient check-in and patient education solution, the PatientPad™, won the “2010 Cool Technology of the Year” award presented by TechAmerica and the Technology Association of Georgia at TechAmerica’s annual Spirit of Endeavor Awards. Founded in 2009, Digital Assent is a healthcare technology company based in Atlanta, Ga.

The PatientPad™ simplifies the gathering of patient information by automating the patient intake process. Patients can register online in advance of their visit or use a portable touch screen tablet to check in with their healthcare provider at the point of care, verify insurance eligibility, and sign any required consent forms.

The other finalists selected for this year’s “Cool Technology” award were: Intercontinental Hotels Group, Nanolumens, Jigsaw Meeting and Toomah.

The Wharton Entrepreneurship Conference is an independent student-run organization of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
