Startup Weekend is a non-profit organization based out of Seattle, WA. Startup Weekend was founded in 2007, holding its first event in Boulder, Colorado. Over time, the event has expanded to over 100 cities in 25 countries. startup weekend Chicago was held on June 25 through to June 27th.

The program started with long hours of brainstorming, pitching ideas, solidifying concepts, and creating business plans, the participants in Chicago’s Startup Weekend were finally able to rest. Following the presentations, participants formed nine teams to expand upon the ideas deemed most viable.

These three services and products emerged as winners of the Chicago startup weekend.

App Triumph was awarded the winner of startup weekend Chicago. App Triumph allows students applying to colleges and graduate schools to easily manage the entire application process by compiling a variety of information in one place. Students, parents, and college counselors can track deadlines, communication with colleges and universities, and scholarships, information to simplify their application process.

Data Insider, won second place and the application that allows companies like cars.com and apartments.com to monetize their data so that hedge fund traders focused on specific industries can get on demand sales metrics from the source.

Remnant Retail came in third with their pitch for a service that allows landlords with available retail space to list vacancies and rent space to short term tenants for time periods between one day and a year.
