Travel Search: Is Hipmunk The New Disrupter of The Domestic Travel Market

Hipmunk has received a lot of attention in recent times, and it is believed to be the new user-friendly travel search engine. Travellers have used Hipmunk to find flight travel times, layovers and prices in a new way. Us ers are particularly impressed with the user interface.

Hipmunk lets you sort results by price, number of stops, departure/arrival time, duration and a new search category called agony. It automatically sorts flights by a combination of annoyance factors — stops and travel duration etc.

With Hipmunk you’ll see all the relevant flights on a timeline, helping you visualize the right choice. You can zoom and scale your search results just like the Maps and Photos apps.

Hipmunk for the iPhone comes with the nice feature of being able to email a booking link or being able to use a code to go directly to a “finish” page on Hipmunk.com if you don’t feel like finalizing booking over the phone.

Hipmunk is likely to reach a larger, more mainstream audience sooner than the company planned. Hipmunk could be the disrutper of the travel search market with its current rate of usage.
