The Game Developers Choice Awards are annually presented by the Game Developers Conference for outstanding game developers and games.

At this year’s Game Developers’ Choice Awards, Minecraft received the Innovation Award, Best Downloadable Game Award as well as the Best Debut Game Award. IGF granted Minecraft the Audience Award as well as the Seumas McNally Grand Prize.

Minecraft is still officially in beta, but millions of people are already playing and paying for it.

Minecraft is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. At night monsters come out, make sure to build a shelter before that happens. So far 4,894,998 people have registered and 1,472,539 people bought the game.

Minecraft is developed by Markus Persson. It’s been under development since about May 10, 2009.
