Today, Densebrain, Inc., a New York-based digital ideas agency, in an exclusive partnership with Mobile Transit Solutions (MTS), is introducing an update to its NYCMate application that provides New Yorkers with real-time subway arrival information. The innovative feature, NextTrain, is available on both the Android and iPhone platforms.

NextTrain is a passive crowd sourcing system which determines the real time arrivals of NYC subway trains by leveraging information from thousands of New Yorkers smartphones.

NextTrain leverages a critical mass of commuters to power the feature that provides accurate and reliable information for train locations. As user support increases, the algorithm will become more intelligent at answering the question on every New Yorker’s mind: “When will the next train arrive?”

The application is completely passive which means it does not require input from users. Instead the monitoring of subway data is automatic.
