Facebook has announced today that the company will launch group chat, video calling with Skype and a redesigned chat side bar to make communication on Facebook easy and powerful.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new features at the company’s headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif. Skype video chat will be fully embedded into the Facebook ecosystem with an extension that is designed to make it as easy to use as possible.

The new chat design includes a sidebar that lists the people you message most. Now it’s easier to find your friends and start a conversation. Now when your friends can’t figure out what movie to see, you can just add them to a chat and decide together.

Video calling will be available to everyone over the next few weeks, but if you don’t want to wait, you can get it now.
