Hoot.Me has developed a way to Switch Facebook onto study mode. Through Hoot, students and teachers can connect and collaborate together via a knowledge network that utilizes browser technologies such as smart chat, video / voice conferencing, and screen sharing.

Hoot brings video conferencing to Facebook and screen sharing to the browser. Users can use Facebook to see what homework their friends are working on and collaborate.

The chat rooms can handle math symbols and youtube video embeds, and through a partnership with TokBox, they also provide group video chats.

The team launched a beta version in February and won $25,000 of seed funding with a spot in startup accelerator DreamIt Ventures‘s summer program.
