Mobile operator MTN has signed an agreement with Opera software to boost mobile internet services across Africa. MTN has around 1 250 million subscribers in the Africa and Middle East region and users should have access to a faster web experience as the Opera Mini software shrinks web pages to allow faster loading and display times.

MTN Group said it will roll out Opera Software’s mobile browser in Africa and the Middle East, to offer faster web access in countries where bandwidth is often limited. MTN said on Monday it plans to offer Opera Mini to its 150 million customers across the fast-growing regions.

“The collaboration with Opera Software will provide MTN subscribers with a more affordable, user-friendly and faster mobile web experience,” Opera said.

“With just one click, customers have music, news, games, and information on MTN products and services at their fingertips,” said Christian de Faria, MTN Group’s chief commercial officer.
