Word-of-mouth marketing (WOMM), also called word of mouth advertising, is an unpaid form of promotion—oral or written—in which satisfied customers tell other people how much they like a business, product, service, or event.

Buzz as a form of hype among consumers, a positive association, excitement, or anticipation about a product or service. Positive “buzz” is often a goal of viral marketing, public relations, and of advertising on Web 2.0 media.

Word – of – mouth is a very powerful marketing tool that every entrepreneur must learn to use. It can be low cost and even works when you sleep.

What you can do to begin a buzz
Talk to friends, pitch to early adopters, pitch a story to an influencer, send out an e – mail newsletter, run a competition or better still start a blog. Encourage your customers to do the same. Learn about viral marketing techniques and apply them.Give something out for free. Surprise your customers with freebies. Encourage your customers to share freebies you give out. Whatever you do, keep your customers talking. Share exciting information about your product with your social fans.
