NFC Taxi Booking Made Possible In Taiwan

NFC enables you to pair accessories to your phone, send contact information or photos to other phones and to check-in to places using location-based services. A partnership between Nokia and Taiwan Taxi now allow people in Taiwan to book Taxis via NFC. The service requires support from an operator to help this happen. In this case Taiwan Mobile made it possible.

NFC-enabled posters are being placed in more than 15,000 Taiwan stores. These will include Nokia branded retail stores, Taiwan Mobile’s branded retail stores, convenience stores, lottery stations, drink chain stores, famous buildings, corporate sites, restaurants and shopping centers.

How it works
To book a cab, users simply hold their phone up to a poster, which enables them to place their booking. Once that’s done, the company sends a text message back to the consumer confirming the booking, which, in turn, gets shown to the driver to verify the fare.
