In as much as successful people share some common habits, there is no recipe for success. But some conventional habits and characteristics are the things that separate those who are incredibly successful and those who are just not making it.

Ever wonder what it takes to run Facebook, Apple, Microsoft or Ford? According to sources in the Facebook office, Zuckerberg spends a lot time reading about how successful people live their lives. Warren Buffet (one of the greatest financial minds of the past 50 years) is also known to be an avid reader.

“Just imagine you could be given 10 percent of the future earnings of one person you know,” Buffett says. Would you pick the smartest person? The fastest runner? No, Buffett says: “You’re going to pick the person that has the right habits.”

Why are some people more successful than others? Almost every successful person you know do things differently than people who are less successful. To succeed in life and business you need a combination of factors including skills, perseverance, timing, hard work and a little bit of luck goes a long way too.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. – Aristotle
