Awa Diaw is raising funds for Nek.awa Beauty, a social entrepreneurial venture that seeks to provide women with all natural skincare and haircare products that simplify their beauty routine.
Growing up in Senegal and later on in Harlem, Awa’s grandmother and mother would always nourish her skin and hair with a shea-based family product. This product simplifies her daily skin and hair routine without sacrificing her need for moisture, nutrients, and shine.
Awa decided to share her family tradition of using shea butter with her classmates originally for a Business Venture Class. Awa and Chelsea decided to pursue this idea and both passionately and strongly believed in the importance of simplifying beauty routines with all natural products. They believe that Nek.awa Beauty will do just that!
Nekawa Beauty is committed to using all natural, unrefined ingredients for all products. With their roots in Africa, they believe in the traditional use of natural ingredients to heal and nurture the body and hair. The added benefits of shea alongside the base oils will tone, moisturize, and heal damaged skin and hair.
Nek.awa provides women with all natural skin & hair care products that simplify their beauty routine with a traditional African recipe. Nekawa aims to help women simplify their routine by providing handmade vegan products that can do multiple things with one bottle.
Nekawa is Swahili for choice, immaculate, and pure. And backward spells awaken. We aim to help women to awaken their skin and hair.
Nekawa recently won first place in the Indiana University Clapp Business Idea Competition.
You can pre-order by supporting their crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. Your support will help them to scale production and increase marketing so that more women can awaken their natural beauty with their simple and natural product.
