Your newsletter email templates are at the heart of your marketing campaign. Because of this, you’ll have to learn how to construct them effectively. So keep on reading! We’ll help you get your email template more appealing for your subscribers.

Subject line

The first thing your reader is going to look at is the subject line. So you need to make sure that its designed in a way that intrigues them. Remember, using ALL CAPS text can trigger the spam filter so don’t go there with your subscribers.

Are longer emails better?

When it comes to newsletter email templates, longer isn’t always the best option. You have to keep in mind that your audience and subscribers use a variety of web browsers, mobile devices, and email clients to view your emails. What may look good in an iOS screen might not do the trick on an Android screen.

On average, you should have your email subject line be about 65 characters long. When the subject reaches around 61-70 characters long, it can be very difficult to read. Most of the best email subject lines are around 41-50 characters.

Preheaders

Preheaders are used to add interesting content and keep your reader interested in your campaign. Make it short at about 40-70 characters and make it simple for them to read. The subject line and the preheader need to work together so that they make your template appealing to the audience.

Personalization

Having an email with a personalized subject are 26% more likely to be read. You should use your subscriber’s name in the subject line and make it relevant for them.

Adding the last purchase, company information or any additional information will help personalize your email to your subscribers. But having a good email personalization is more than just placing your first name.

Contextual marketing

Contextual marketing is a term that’s used to make your emails more of a 1 on 1 engagement than a one size fits all email that’s for a general audience. By using contextual marketing principles, you’ll have your subscribers more involved with you emails and potentially increase sales.

Spotify is a great example of this. At the end of the year, they have an end of the year campaign that shows their listeners their most played songs, favorite genres, and hours listened to their music.

Making a humanized email will make your subscribers feel more involved, increase their engagement, and make them more likely to open up your email.

Dynamic content

Don’t just let your newsletter email templates stick to one format. You can change entire sections of your templates so that it appears more dynamic and more engaging to your subscribers. Doing this will break the monotony of basic emails and make the content more interesting to read.

Conclusion

Overall, the quality of your newsletter email templates will depend on a few minor changes. Make sure that you take time editing your template so that you can increase your engagement and obtain better sales from your readers.
