Why Efficient Packaging Is Vital For Your Business

If you want to keep your clients satisfied efficient packaging is crucial. It doesn’t just protect the goods inside from being damaged in transit, but it also maintains your business reputation.  Your customers don’t want to have to chase up items that have been destroyed or damaged due to poor packaging.

Almost every order placed on online will be packaged in some form and will have been stored in a warehouse somewhere. Many businesses work on a global scale and can ship products to the other side of the world, sometimes within a day or two.

If you manage a smaller company, warehouse packaging may be something that you can deal with by yourself.  However, taking on such a critical part of the business can be very stressful, and if you get it wrong, your whole business can be at risk. For this reason, many companies decide to outsource this task to a packaging company.

The benefits of efficient packaging

Products are delivered safely

Hazardous materials are as safe as possible.

Packaging may be able to be reused, repurposed or recycled, which is beneficial to the environment

Increases the lifespan of goods

Improves the efficiency of the warehouse space

Of course, the packaging does come at a cost. We would all like would like to default to the most inexpensive option, but you need to consider the following factors.

The size of the parcel

The type of package

How you are storing the products

Labelling

Your customer’s shipping needs

Other things that you may need to take into consideration are:

Your target audience: Although many children’s toys are in blister packaging with lots of plastic cable ties, it can be a nightmare for parents when they have excited children hovering around for their toy. By thinking about things like this, you can design and adapt your packaging and stand out as a company.

How the products will travel: It is vital to give almost as much thought as to whether it will get to its destination in one piece as to the design of the item itself, as it costs an awful lot of money to replace or repair damaged items.

Sizing – While the size of your external packaging will obviously depend on the product inside, it is essential that you make it standard as far as possible. This keeps down the costs in not only producing the packaging but also in the transport.

It is crucial to understand the impact that packaging can have on your business as a whole and to take action to improve your shipping processes and overall packaging. From basic industrial packaging products designed purely to protect the items during the transit process to more attractive product packaging designed to look good and advertise your brand, which direction you take when it comes to your packaging is up to you. Saving money on packaging may be practical and tempting, but it can be a false economy if it does not protect your precious cargo.
