I was raised conventionally in Auckland, New Zealand within a loving family who had an incredibly strong work ethic and who firmly believed that the key to any success in life was via the traditional educational route. Consequently, I attended a recognised school, a notable university and trained to become a respected professional. I graduated from university as an Architect. I can’t imagine how different my life would have been if I stayed on that path!
The whole time I was travelling this conventional, usual road, I was aware that there was ‘something more’, I wanted more. More than just the usual life and the slow grind up the professional ladder to a career highpoint sometime down the road. I couldn’t see myself sitting in an architectural office viewing council bylaws and plans…..I was craving excitement, travel, achievement and financial success and, as so many entrepreneurial types I asked myself “How do successful people become successful?”
Finding the answer to this question led me down a path of self improvement and self awareness strategy. I started investing in courses: everything from marketing, to real estate and personal growth. At one stage, I was over $100,00.00 in personal debt after taking every course and attending every self-improvement seminar. I was currency trading, dabbling in property investment and building a business that I loathed, purely for the monetary gain.
It was a business that required my attention 100% of the time to function. I was its face, its sole employee and its raison d’etre. It was a one on one coaching business and I ran small classes in Life Coaching where I had to be present and teach the course to a room full of attendees. I was the booking agent, the organiser, the caterer and the educator. It was exhausting.
To be honest, results were slow to show. It seemed that I had gotten into debt for nothing. I also disliked this process and I started to think that maybe I wasn’t cut out for the successful business-woman lifestyle and that it wasn’t ‘me’. Then, a mentor of mine (who I am still in touch with today) said, “Regan, you’ve got it all back-to-front and upside down….success is 80% mindset and only 20% strategy, it’s what’s in the inside that really matters.”
Well, it took me a while to ponder that and think it through, you see, I had been going massively in all directions intensively looking for that single strategy, that key, that one thing that was going to be the charm. Then, I thought that I would just replicate it over and over and build the desired lifestyle. I couldn’t have been more wrong. His advice was incredibly powerful and for me, life
It was in this phase of my business awakening and rewiring that I started to build my successful coaching enterprise, because, as I applied the growing internal knowledge, then my existing business took flight. It surprisingly and phenomenally took off with rocket-like speed and momentum.
The people in my sphere kept asking me “Regan, what are you doing, what is your strategy, that your business is flourishing so much?” After I had assisted so many people and then, received invitations to speak at seminars, I realised that here was truly the business that I could build and love.
It was in my destiny and my DNA to help people and see them achieve personal and financial success. I shut my other business down and walked away from it, because, my heart wasn’t in it and I knew that to be truly successful and live the life of my desires, I had to be fully in love with what I did each and every day.
Within four years, I had moved from a struggling entrepreneur, essentially exchanging time for money, to a multi-millionaire with a globally successful seven-figure brand. Regan Hillyer International. I was in control of each and every step, it was simple and it was powerful.
I created an enterprise with a strong soulmate tribal following that grew and flourished, as my mindset and intention for my business came from a place of integrity and authenticity. The RHI journey, including obtaining my first international clients and my first big ticket clients from startup to now is four years. In total, I have been in the coaching industry for 10 years. It was the transition from one business idea to a multi-business platform that really kick-started the revenue stream.
And, as my business grew, I realised that I couldn’t do everything and be everything to everybody and that I required specialist assistance in many fields. I set about building a team of experts in a variety of appropriate fields around me. This team of dedicated, professional individuals encompasses the disciplines of media management, event planning and management, online marketing, social media expertise, copywriting, strategic planning, account management, travel booking and other expert services.
They are all entrepreneurial individuals who embrace their independence and believe in the same basic core values that Regan Hillyer International stands for, they all love what they do and are based in a number of diverse cities and regions all over the world. They are unashamedly my cheerleaders and embrace the vision for our work that we collectively hold.
Regan Hillyer International has gone, in only four years, from a one premise business to a multimedia
In my business journey, assisting people to achieve their true potential and build the lives of their desires, I am often asked “What is your most powerful piece of advice?” And, apart from reiterating the advice of my original mentor, this is what I say:
- Make sure you always reconnect with your big picture vision. What do you really want? Be absolutely super clear and specific, and this vision may and will change as you grow and develop in your business life. Keep rewiring.
- Who do you need to be to achieve this vision? Remember, we don’t get what we “do” in life, we get what we set ourselves up to receive. Mindset is everything.
- Take aligned action with your vision and be super clear on what this action is and make sure that it fits with your integrity and authenticity.
I have always been a firm believer that each and every person on this planet has the potential to live the life of their desires, personally, financially and professionally. And, this concept still underpins the rationale of Regan Hillyer International.
And, remember
You absolutely can have it all…
And give back too!
