What Your Car Says About You

Cars are more than just the things you drive. They’re a part of who you are and tend to reflect your personality.

Think about it. When you shop for a new car, what do you think about?

Chances are that you’re looking for a car that fits who you are, how you want people to see you, and even who you want to become.

Choosing the one speaks volumes about what your car says about you, and your self-concept is what pushes you to pick your next ride.

What your car colour says about you

Your car color says plenty about your personality, whether you want to blend in or stand out. The color can even suggest if you’re more the extrovert or introvert type.

Selecting a black car suggests that you are focused on appearance, but still reserved. Elegance and class are a top priority, and you will likely feel empowered by wearing the color black, too.

A silver car is thought to be perceived as prestigious and elegant with its metallic flash. It reflects the idea that you want to incorporate a crisp and cool appearance.

White cars tend to reflect the perfectionist type. Drivers of white vehicles may want to be noticed or at least doesn’t mind being noticed. The color also suggests cleanliness.

People that choose red cars tend to be more confident or like the attention the color brings. Dark reds like burgundy are more reserved and subtle in seeking social approval.

What your car brand says about you

According to YouGov, your car brand says a lot about who you are, including behaviors, beliefs, and even personality traits. Men’s Health put it all out there in a way that makes it easy to understand.

As an example, if you happen to drive an Audi, you likely live in a coastal city and are a Democrat. Your job is probably in consulting or in advertising. You’re also probably a millennial.

On the other hand, if you drive a Ford, you’re probably older as a member of Generation X or maybe the Baby Boomer generation. You likely have a dog and enjoy football and pumpkin pie.

What your car condition says about you

If you’re willing to pay cash for cars, that’s a bonus for you not to have a car payment, but the condition of your car after the fact is going to reflect the kind of person you are.

Having a bunch of trash doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a slob or you don’t care about your vehicle. In many cases, that seems to be quite the contrary!

According to a psychologist that spoke with Reader’s Digest, a car full of junk mail, food wrappers, and other trash just mean you’re all about that multitasking.

In short, your car is a physical representation of what your mental state looks like. The same goes for the outside – it’s a glimpse into individual personalities.

Buying your car

Deciding on what car you buy says a lot about who you are, even if you spend cash for junk cars that you want to fix up for later.

Everything makes a difference from colors to brands, so choose your vehicle wisely to make sure it represents who you are and who you want to be.
