Kevin Gamache, Founder of ASL Advocacy Center has launched a George Veditz Coin Kickstarter campaign to raise money to promote positive perspective on American Sign Language (ASL) by George Veditz.
The first option is brass while the inside of the coin is made of copper.
The second option is the standard silver coin and the third option is the proof like silver. It has a reflective surface like a mirror.
The reason why he is offering these 3 options is that the latter two are investment opportunities. For example, the starting price for the silver coins is currently at $39.99 (Correction: Kickstarter doesn’t accept decimal number, $40), but in the future, one silver could be worth $100 each. The third option, the proof-like coins, are always a collector’s item.
He is offering the brass coin because they are now all over the United States and he wants people to see these coins honouring the deaf community.
This will prompt interest among them to learn more about deaf people and the existence of sign language. Also, we would be honouring George Veditz’s famous quote that continues to be of great importance to us. Honouring him on these US coins would help make his legacy a permanent one!
