If you are a busy 9-5er, run your own business or freelance, it is likely that you could do with improving your productivity. It is important to take time out for yourself. There is a cycle that we can get into that goes something like sleep, work, eat, sleep, work… and on it goes. With a few small tweaks, you can create some space for yourself and take a little bit of time out.
Exercise
You might opt to relax and go for a Sunday stroll, or you might need more of a work-out to wind down. There are likely a few spaces that will work well for you. You can take a walk in the morning, although many people prefer an early run.
You can save time by packing your gym bag the night before, laying out your clothing, and having your SARMs for research on order.
Writing
They say that there is a novel in everyone, and that is a pretty cool idea. But there is more than just book writing when it comes to jotting things down. If you have a lot of experience in a certain sector, it can be useful to start a blog as a creative outlet.
Or, you might opt to keep a notebook by your bedside for those middle-of-the-night genius ideas. In general, writing can be therapeutic and a great way to help your brain process the day better.
Sleep
There are very few people who couldn’t do with more sleep. And if you own your own business, but have a messy sleep schedule, it is going to impact your work. If you aren’t giving your body as much time to rest as it needs, you will see that reflected in your work. Cut out caffeine a few hours before you want to go to bed.
Try to limit your mobile phone usage, and unplug from the computer for a while before bed. Reading is often one of the best things to do if you are hoping to drift off peacefully.
Off Time
If you are in the middle of launching a start-up, or you have a few big contracts, it can be very tempting to work all of the hours you can. Try to make sure that you are taking sufficient days off for yourself. This might be a standard weekend, or you might choose to have some days off in the week.
Create a schedule that works for you. During that time, don’t check your work emails – and try to avoid taking work calls unless they are an emergency.
Automate
When you are in the office, take some time to automate your social media streams. This will mean that you can switch off, and know that your business is working hard – even when you’re kicking back.
Taking care of yourself mentally and physically means that productivity will be fed back into your business, and you will see an improvement in your work, your energy, and your output.
