5 Important Goals For Your Intranet

What do you want to achieve with your intranet?

An intranet is an amazing resource to be able to reach your entire organization with, and it can help you to achieve some important goals. So, what should you be looking to achieve with your intranet, and how can you go about it?

1. Entertain to Engage

If you’re looking to engage people, then there has to be an entertainment factor to your content. It doesn’t matter if you’re announcing a 50% wage increase for your employees or outlining new fire safety protocols, you’ve got to try and maximize the entertainment value of the content you’re putting out.

You can achieve this with catchy headlines, good presentation (well-spaced, lots of images), use of multimedia, fun quizzes, and endless other mechanisms, but the important thing is you’re giving people a good reason to engage with your intranet.

2. Communication Across the Business

One of the most difficult aspects for large companies is to create a feeling of togetherness. Different branches and wings of the company might never come into contact with each other, and yet they’re all working towards a common goal: the success of the company.

However, that common goal is much easier to achieve when the different departments are all on the same page and enabling each other to improve. Your intranet can help facilitate the communication that reminds everyone they’re on the same team and working towards a common goal.

3. Influence the Business Culture

This is one of the first things that people think about when they think of an intranet – building the company culture.

Company culture is vitally important to modern businesses, but it’s not easy to build. An intranet that engages a large portion of the workforce can be crucial to this, though. It allows you to show off all the good things that are going on in your business and encourage people to get involved.

Highlighting the values, you cherish and rewarding the people who show them are excellent ways of creating the culture you crave, and your intranet can help with this.

4. Provide Support

An intranet platform such as Simpplr is an ideal place to offer support for people’s problems. Through this platform, you can encourage people to get the confidential advice they need and lead them on the path to solving their issues.

Your business works best when you have happy, healthy employees, and your intranet can provide the resources that help ensure this. Through an active intranet, you can be there for your employees when they need you and provide crucial support.

5. Inspire Action

Whatever content you put out on your intranet; you’re looking to inspire action. That action could just be coming back to the page next week, asking a question, making a proposal, arranging a meeting; any number of actions.

It’s important that whatever action your content is intended to inspire, that you make it easy for people to take that action. If you can drive engagement, and get people taking action, then you have a very successful intranet.
