There can be a large number of reasons why you might be thinking about a change of career. You might want to try something completely new, use new skills or life experience that you have, or really give back and help others. There can be an element of ‘rat race’ about some careers, so it is worth looking at changing if the daily grind is getting you down.

Some of the best roles are the kind of job roles that are the most rewarding, and those of which can significantly improve your life, as well as the life of others. You may even be looking for a career where you feel like a much bigger purpose. In fact, there is a significant load of research that shows that people who spend their time working and helping others, are much happier in their lives overall. It is quite a clear thing that helping people can feel good, and who wouldn’t want that a little more in their life?

What are the best career roles that mean that you help others? You never know, you might find some franchise opportunities in this industry, if you really want to build a business in this kind of industry. Here are some of the roles out there that can be rewarding and mean that you make a big difference in the world. They may not be the easiest jobs in the world, but they can have lots of rewards and help with that feel-good factor in your life.

Speech and language therapist

If you are looking for a career that is one that can really change the lives of others, children and adults alike, then working as a speech and language therapist could be just the thing for you. Not only does a speech and language therapist help with speech and speaking, but can also improve the function of eating, swallowing, and drinking, such as after someone has had a stroke.

A speech and language therapist usually works in schools and nurseries, when working with children, and in hospitals too. You could even work in nursing homes, depending on what area you specialize in. You could work with a range of people, from young children that need some help and strategies to improve sounding out words, to older people who are recovering from certain conditions like strokes or neck cancer, where the ability to speak or swallow has been hindered.

Charity Work

There are a number of roles with charities that are unpaid, however, charities still have a number of roles that are paid. When you work for a charity, whether it is a local charity or a global one, is a really rewarding way to spend the time. The reason being is that you will be working towards a specific goal and doing your bit to help the charity to do some pretty amazing things, helping a whole host of people.

The kind of paid roles that you could get with a charity are things like managing a charity store, event management and organization, as well as fundraising, marketing, and running other charity locations. It can be a good idea to get involved with a charity on a voluntary basis, around other work commitments, in order to make some good connections.

Childcare

If you want a rewarding career, that can actually be quite lucrative if you have your own business, then you could think about a career in childcare. When you work in childcare, you can make a big difference to the lives of people, and help them to work swiftly and easily. You are also helping to raise and nurture children, providing a safe and stable environment for them, offering a number of opportunities for them.

If you are someone who loves working with children, then you will get plenty of rewards for this, as children, especially young ones, can be a joy to work with. You could work in a daycare or nursery, be a nanny in a home looking after a specific family, or start a daycare or kid’s club of your own.

Midwife

Working as a midwife is very special, as you will play a part in bringing babies into the world. Such a special moment to be a part of! When it comes to job satisfaction, midwives often score top of the list. It can be a very enjoyable job, and each day would be different, as the couples and babies that you work with are going to all be different. You will often be based in hospitals, but it can be something like you do privately, helping parents-to-be in their own homes.
