Fortunately, there are things you can do to become the best car salesman possible to make the process easier for your clients.

Ask your customers questions and then let them do the majority of the talking. They’ll appreciate that you care and that you aren’t pushing them to make a sale before they’re ready. Listening and being patient are the keys to boosting car sales. 

3. Add a Personal Touch to Your Conversation

When a potential customer introduces themself, take the time to remember their name. They want to feel like they’re more than just a commission check to you and using their name is a small gesture that goes a long way. 

And, this concept goes beyond the four walls of the dealership as well. 

If you get an online lead, for example, record a quick video to introduce yourself, using their name so they know it’s not a stock video you send to everyone. When you communicate with them via text or email, use their name then too. All of these actions help to set you apart from other salespeople. 

4. Follow up After the Sale

Once you’ve completed the deal, your work doesn’t stop there. Be sure to check in with your customers afterward to see how they like the car and if they have any questions. 

Ideally, you want them to become customers for life, so following up is a great way to continue showing that you care even once they’ve signed on the dotted line. 

This is also the kind of attention that leads to word-of-mouth referrals. When you make a great impression on your customers through every step of the car buying process, they’ll be more likely to spread the word with their friends and family, leading to more sales for you.
