How to Set Up An Interior Design Business

If you’re someone who’s always on top of decor secrets and feel like you could do that, too, perhaps it’s time to start an interior design business. Anyone who has a passion for all types of decor has a unique idea of how to help a property realize its potential, and there’s no better way to make this happen than by acting as a consultant. Starting a business can be tricky, though, so here are some tips to get you going.

Show Off Your Skills

The first thing you’ll need to do is establish an interior design portfolio to show off your skills. If you don’t have any evidence of this, go around your home and take pictures of your home. You can use these as the foundation of your portfolio as you generate more interest. You may also be able to use apps or augmented reality software to design interiors and use these as examples.

Know Your Specialty

Everyone should have a speciality when they start a business. Consider what you’re good at and the type of decor you love to design. If you prefer sleek and contemporary styles, market yourself as someone who will bring client homes into the 21st century. If you’d prefer to celebrate tradition and heritage, make the point that you’re someone to call if clients want their home to feel more welcoming and cosy.

Make Your Company Stand Out

Your name, logo, and brand message should all grab people’s attention. You’ll need to set up a website where you show off your portfolio and include plenty of information about who you are, why people should choose you, and how to contact you. Invest in a domain name so clients can find you easily and set up social media pages to spread your influence across the internet, which makes it easier for you to engage with clients and competitors.

Don’t Be Afraid to Share Your Knowledge

As a consultant, you’ll share your knowledge anyway. But, you can also use the power of your website and blog to maximize your ability to share advice with anyone who needs it. Your blog can act as your log that lets you share your thoughts about industry trends. It also improves marketing potential as your voice becomes more recognisable to clients and others within your industry, helping you become the brand in itself.

Offer Varied Services

Offering varied services straight away can be tricky, but it depends on the type of services you choose. You can provide bespoke interior design consultations, but you can do this in person or over video chats. If you’re going to do this, you’ll need a high-quality computer and know how to overcome issues like poor connections, bad audio, or Ventura not booting when you need it to. Overcoming these problems will make you seem more professional and capable, which will endear you to clients and improve your chances of getting their business.

What’s Inside

Every house has the potential to be something beautiful. If you want to enhance other’s homes, your interior design business could be the start of something special, allowing you to share your ideas and offer advice to anyone seeking a stunning change.
