The Benefits of Access Control

Security is very important for businesses of all sizes. Especially when you are working with confidential information or equipment that’s far from cheap, it is very important to protect your business’s assets. Otherwise, it will be a hard road to success. It does not matter if you have 20 or 20.000 employees, an access control system can allow or deny access to every employee. This makes everything much easier.

As mentioned before, access control systems can make your job much easier. Access control systems save you money and they keep your workplace secure. They also make the life of your employees much easier. An access control system can allow or restrict access to, for example, a building, a room, a site or a cabinet. The possibilities are limitless!

Getting familiar

You may ask yourself: ‘’What is access control?’’ Easily put, an access control system is a system that helps you to control who enters a location and when. This person can be everybody, varying from an employee to a visitor. For instance, you can use an identifier such as an access card to authorize people to enter a certain area. When someone has entered an area, the access control system will remember who this person was and when they entered the area. This way, you can keep track of the way your building is being used. So do not wait any longer and start looking for an access control system for your building, for instance the Aeos type!

The difference with keys

One might say that it is unnecessary to use physical access control when you can use keys. However, there are a lot of benefits to access control, compared to simple keys. For instance: an employee can easily lose a key, which makes it necessary for you to replace the entire lock, so it won’t be misused. After that, everybody needs to get a new key. This takes a lot of time and money.

Secondly, keys do not leave an audit trail. This means you can not see who entered a room or when that happened. Lastly, keys are not easy to manage. Imagine having to enter a lot of different buildings and rooms. You will need many different keys. It is very inconvenient and difficult to carry that many keys around with you all day, let alone remember which key belongs to which door. Choosing an access control system is a smart way to improve your business!

Ways of access

By now you have probably realized that keys are not the only option regarding access control. When you use physical access control, you have a lot of options. For instance, you can give your employees cards or badges, with which they can gain access to certain rooms. Also, you can distribute passwords, which employees can use to enter rooms. It is also possible to use biometric identifiers, such as a fingerprint or iris. These are all smart ways to control access in your building.

In a nutshell, an access control system enables you to motorize who has access to your building, who enters certain rooms and when this happens. Don’t wait any longer and purchase your access control system!
