How To Market These 5 Unique Institutions

Are you on the public relations team for a college or institution? Are you now tasked with coming up with an amazing marketing video and promotion to attract students?

This is not as scary as it seems. Yes, you need to design a video that will appeal to a set group of students, but, there are some ways to do this that will make the process fun to complete, rather than stressful. Of course, the way you market the college will depend on the type of college that it is so, here, you will be walked through how to market five different types of college.

Art College

Art is all about color, abstract ideas, and creativity; great for a brochure, but quite hard to get across in a video!

Or is it? You can market an art college through websites like campusreel.org, which can give you pointers on the right video length, formatting, and lighting. However, you need to appeal to the art students, which may involve creating some pretty unusual videos. Abstract concepts, like an apple being balanced on a book, are one option. Or, you could go classical, and showcase the college campus, with students and art classes being undertaken- you know the ones! Canvases, life models, etc. Either way, do your research first and make sure the concept is unique!

Business College

Going from artsy to more technical, marketing a business college with a video can also be fun and, you don’t have to lose the creativity. You could even use typical business jargon to make students laugh, such as next quarter, annual returns, etc. You should also look into using visuals like pie charts, graphs, etc. Or, if you really want to have fun with it, you could set up a Shark Tank-like sketch, which will showcase the college as the investment.

Law School

There is something of a joke-like stigma behind becoming a lawyer, so, you can either use this to your advantage when marketing a law school or showcase the opposite.

You could go classical with your law school advert; show courtrooms, lawyers, and judges, or, you can show the process of attending law school. Learning jargon, graduation, etc, but instead of the students throwing the mortarboard, they could be throwing courtroom wigs!

Nursing/Medical Schools

OK, so anyone who wants to go to nursing school or medical school may not need much convincing, as they will usually have a clear idea of where they want to go. So, as a marketing team, it is your job to showcase what makes your nursing school or medical school different.

You can talk about graduation rates, or you can talk about the success of alumni, but, the reality is, most students in this field go into it because they want to help people. Showing student doctors doing rounds, talking to patients, and engaging with consultants will give a glimpse of what students can expect from the course at your medical institution. Do away with those images or slow clips of students looking at skeletons, or taking blood pressure; if they are at the level of attending med school or nursing school, they know how to do that!

Irrespective of the end piece, try to make sure that any marketing video is short (30-60 seconds), fun, and gets across the message that your school is the optimum one for students!
