Over the years, Teqja Group has gone from strength to strength, establishing itself as a market leader in multiple industries thanks to the visionary leadership of its founder and director, Dionis Teqja (Megatek S.A. president of the board of directors).

Under Mr. Teqja’s leadership, corporate social responsibility has been elevated from a business obligation to a core value that guides every strategic decision the group makes. His personal commitment to giving back to the community is reflected in each initiative – turning philanthropic vision into measurable, impactful action.

Combining sound business acumen and international best practices with its leadership team’s extensive experience of the Albanian market, Teqja Group began expanding in 1995, introducing new products to markets and venturing into new industries. This article will look at Teqja Group’s strident corporate social responsibility strategy and initiatives the group and its subsidiaries have participated in.

Forming part of Teqja Group, Megatek is a company launched with the mission of informing, inspiring and empowering people to construct and transform their homes into a unique, personalized expression of themselves.

Megatek was proud to partner with the ALO 116 National Children’s Counseling Line in an event designed to help children design their dream home. Operating with the motto “Do it well, do it yourself,” the event included a prize presentation for the most beautiful drawings.

When approached by the Albanian National Circus with a request for help with the reconstruction of its premises, Megatek acted immediately, providing all the necessary materials and recognizing this as an important social responsibility initiative. The company sent a team of qualified professionals who undertook the project in record time, successfully reconstructing two important gyms where circus professionals can train each day.

In addition, Megatek also constructed an animal residence environment, completing the project on time. Megatek incorporated internal insulation and flooring along with four large air conditioners that it donated to keep temperatures constant for the animals, performers, and spectators.

In the framework of its CSR activities, Megatek was proud to partner with the Albanian National Agency for Education, Vocational Training and Qualifications, the Ministry of Social Welfare and Youth, and other partners including Vodafone, staging the Professional Skills Olympiad in 2014.

Albania’s largest annual professional education convention, the event was entirely financed by Megatek and Teqja Group. Activities included competitions for various professional competencies as well as opportunities for students to demonstrate the skills they had acquired through schooling. Participants were also introduced to modern equipment, materials, and environments developed by the Megatek company.

In April 2018, Megatek entered into a cooperation agreement with UBT, undertaking to support the Agricultural University of Tirana through the provision of materials, expertise, and teaching.

Spanning a five-year period, the agreement was designed to institutionalize the cooperation relationships between Megatek and UBT to ensure the realization of higher education projects, as well as supporting the Architecture and Landscape Studio and providing it with contemporary tools.

By supporting farmers, businesses, and agricultural enthusiasts with high-quality products at affordable prices, Megatek contributes to the development of a sustainable and empowered community. Through dedicated offers and continuous assistance, the company aims to help individuals and families achieve their goals in agriculture and gardening.

In close partnership with the Agricultural University of Tirana, Megatek – under the leadership of Mr. Dionis Teqja – provides career opportunities for graduates to join the company as specialists, ensuring continuity in innovation and growth. This initiative nurtures emerging talent and contributes to the creation of a highly skilled workforce.

In the wake of devastating earthquakes affecting the Albanian regions of Durres and Thumana, Megatek played an active role in collecting aid for families in need, providing financial and material support to the many victims whose homes had been damaged or destroyed.

Working in partnership with the Association of Albanian Producers, Megatek managed to complete construction of a canteen in the civil emergency camp set up in Thumana just two days after the disaster, completing the project in record time. In addition to providing families who had been left homeless with tents, portable beds, and blankets, Megatek also installed 20 gas heaters to combat the challenging winter conditions.

Operating with a strong commitment to social responsibility, Megatek is Albania’s leading DIY hypermarket chain. Open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. seven days a week, Megatek today has a global presence, with outlets across 67 countries, enabling shoppers to browse more than 100,000 products.

The company prides itself on providing unparalleled service, ensuring that customers always feel welcome, whether they are embarking on a complex project or have a simple question. Megatek is committed to giving back to local communities through its robust CSR practices and policies.

Looking to the future, Teqja Group is actively working to align its CSR strategy with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on climate action, gender equality, and quality

education. Through this forward-thinking approach, the group aims to create long-term value not only for its stakeholders but also for the environment and society as a whole. By integrating sustainability into its core business model, Teqja Group reinforces its position as a catalyst for positive change in Albania and beyond.
