Too many remotes? A slow, clunky program guide? Can’t find the show you want to watch? Have to go to your computer to tell your friends what you’re watching?
The latest startup looking to blend traditional TV-watching with social networking is Dijit, which launched at CES this week. Dijit intends to turn your smartphone into your Personal Media Assistant. One device for controlling your home entertainment experience, finding out what’s on TV, finding that movie on Netflix you really want to watch on TV, and sharing what you watch with your friends and family.
With Dijit, your phone is a universal remote control supporting over 200,000 devices, has content listings for every cable and satellite provider in the US, gives you search across content from both traditional providers and new streaming content providers like Netflix, and has integrated and simple sharing through Dijit, Facebook and Twitter.
Dijit will be in the Apple App Store shortly and you can use its content discovery and social media features even without any special hardware.
