After thousands if not millions of user backlash, Instagram has reverted to the older terms of service. Earlier this week, the company introduced a new set of updates to it’s privacy policy and terms of service to help users better understand Instagram.
But lots of Instagram users were upset about what the changes mean and most of them threatened to delete their accounts. National Geographic suspended its Instagram account over new terms.
Instagram on Thursday backed down and said it was reverting to its prior language that dealt with how user photos could be used in conjunction with advertisements.
Kevin Systrom co-founder, Instagram in a blog post said:
Because of the feedback we have heard from you, we are reverting this advertising section to the original version that has been in effect since we launched the service in October 2010. You can see the updated terms here.
He further stated that:
Going forward, rather than obtain permission from you to introduce possible advertising products we have not yet developed, we are going to take the time to complete our plans, and then come back to our users and explain how we would like for our advertising business to work.
