Microsoft has announced that in 10 years, it intends to pay grants to 100 Russian startup companies. This is part of Microsoft’s long-tern agreement with the Russian Foundation of the Skolkovo center of innovative technologies.
The first grant has already been given to the young company “Pirate Pay” from the city of Perm. The company was formed half a year ago and is working on ways to protect copyrighted content from piracy.
The technology invented by Pirate Pay will allow it to block existing torrents and protect the copyright on music and movies that have just been released, potentially putting an end to the uploading and downloading of unlicensed files first in Russia and, at a later stage of the project, globally.
To receive financial help from the Microsoft, a company must be not older than 3 years, its money turnover must not exceed $500,000
