Spinlet, a startup focused on meeting the needs of music lovers in Africa will officially launch its music service to selected countries in Africa including Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana and Kenya.
The mobile music download platform brings media distribution to emerging markets in Africa. Spinlet’s technology encourages the purchasing and discovery of new music while offering seamless integration and storage of the users’ music library on their mobile device.
Spinlet encourages the social aspect of music by making it easy to create and share playlists to friends within the application. With Spinlet, users can also create playlists, stream and seamlessly synch music tracks across devices as well as share their favorite titles using social networking sites, like Facebook.
Spinlet is expected to be available for free on major mobile operating systems including Android, Blackberry, Symbian 60, Windows Phone 7 and popular Java-enabled mobile phones.
Spinlet was founded in 2006 in Finland and now has additional offices in San Francisco and Lagos. Spinlet received a significant funding boost in early 2011 from Verod Capital Management Limited, to assist in global expansion.
