Bootstrapped: Recipe Key-Find Recipes Based On The Ingredients In Your Pantry

Recipe Key (part of The Recipe Group, Inc.) was founded in June of 2007 by Ben Saur and Elise Melvin. Recipe Key recently moved from Alpha to Beta version of Recipe Key would greatly appreciate any feedback.

The site lets you keep track of what you have in your pantry right now and then suggests recipes based on those ingredients. Recipe Key also integrates weekly grocery store specials from around the country as users add ingredients to a shopping list.

The site is bootstrapped with Saur serving as its developer. Balancing a full-time job and a company can be tough. Saur manages to make it work by “making sure I spend enough of my free time on it but also trying to enjoy life a little bit as well.” Saur said he would leave his day job if he could increase revenue and would consider taking funding to grow the company.

The biggest challenge Recipe Key has faced, according to Saur, is “generating traffic and trying to figure out the best source of our revenue stream, either advertising or strategic partnerships.

Saur in a statement published on Bestinnovation.com by Marissa Lowman said ” plans are in the works for an iPhone compatible mobile app, which they hope to launch in early March”

Recipe Key, which launched in November 2007, was redesigned in 2009. This past December, the site had 60,000 unique visitors, a 20% increase from the previous month.

Do you mind if I quote a couple of your posts as long as I provide credit and sources back to your webpage? My website is in the exact same niche as yours and my visitors would really benefit from some of the information you provide here. Please let me know if this alright with you. Regards!
