Stripe: Another Online Payment Startup With Support From Paypal

Stealth online payments startup Stripe has raised $2 million in a venture round from PayPal founders Peter Thiel and Elon Musk, as well as Sequoia Capital, Andreesen Horowitz and SV Angel.It’s an online business to business and business to consumer payments provider.

The company’s web site says only that it is making it easy for “individuals and businesses to accept payments online.”

Stripe will enable any developer to add payment and billing functionality to their own application with a JSON API that can be connected to in 5 minutes, with no branding requirements or directing users to the Stripe site. It will strive to be transparent and contemporary

Sequoia partner Michael Moritz, one of the stars of venture capital, is said to be personally involved in Stripe as well.
