How to Ensure Your Field Team are Effectively Completing Their Workday

Running a business with a field team has its own host of challenges and surprises compared to if you were simply running a business from the office. You need to ensure that anyone you employ to venture out into the world knows how to conduct themselves at all times. Here are some of the things you should be doing to ensure that your field team is always representing your company exactly how you wish they would.

Have a clear employee handbook

The employee handbook can be a lot more than the legal requirements your worker needs to know. Use it to set out a code of conduct which every employee needs to follow. It should dictate an ideal service transaction to give your employee an indication of how interactions with the public should go.

You should also make sure that every employee knows what constitutes unsatisfactory behaviour both from a worker and a customer’s viewpoints. Be certain that everyone knows when they are crossing the line, and train them to know how to deal with a customer who has become disagreeable.

Provide uniforms

Uniforms are only a basic piece of equipment, and yet they do so much. They give an employee a sense of belonging to a team and can also evoke feelings of pride if you are a well-known brand in your local community.

On the flipside of that is the accountability. If a member of your team acts inappropriately while wearing their uniform outside of a job, someone may recognise the uniform and report the incident to you. By asking that all members of the team wear a uniform, you are encouraging them to all act in a manner you deem appropriate whenever they do it. They are always going to be representing your company while wearing it, and you need to make sure that they understand the full consequences of doing so.

Use a scheduling app

While on jobs, it is essential that you ensure that staff members are completing their jobs in the most efficient and timely manner they can manage. One of the best ways to do this is through the use of a scheduling app. You can use this handy piece of software to build a schedule of appointments to work through on the day. The right choice of field service software can even allow your field employees to contact the customer to let them know when they are nearby.

You should always be on the lookout for ways you can improve how your field team operates. From ensuring that they know precisely how to conduct themselves no matter the situation, to ensuring they are kept up-to-date at all times by a scheduling app, there are many ways you can ensure that your team is always at the best they can be.
