Why Does Your Application Never Progress To The Next Stage?

Stuck in a rut and can’t figure why your applications always seem to get the cold shoulder? It may not be your resume or what you’ve done, maybe it’s what you haven’t done yet. Employers are not looking to make some kind of personal vendetta against you because they see something they personally don’t like on your resume.

Try to put yourself in their shoes. They are trying to hire somebody they can put their faith in to take the business further than it has been before. They are investing in someone who truly has the whole package. They also know not everyone is perfect. Thus, more than anything else they are looking for someone with a great potential to grow. Have you demonstrated an ability to learn quickly and use your logical and creative minds to improve a group, company or person’s life?

It’s not you, it’s them

Some companies are just not looking to hire someone in a particular age bracket. That is the truth of it sometimes. If you’re too young or too old in their eyes, they may not see you as a valid investment. It’s not that you don’t have the potential to be hardworking and possess a great mind that could definitely add to their business.

They might just have some very acute restrictions and unique requirements. The truth of the matter is, workers rights and employee laws mean that sometimes, employers cannot be open about this because it would be age discrimination. Their advertisements might not make any mention of this, but deep down they do have their ideal candidate in mind. Just because it’s not you, doesn’t mean you are falling short of the mark.

Get modern accreditation

Those that want a career change will need to consider getting something that’s perhaps a little more modern in the way of degrees and accreditation. For example, if you want to make the switch to working closely with growing minds and help children and families in emotionally unstable situations, consider an accredited online social work program. This masters in social work will allow you to help substance abuse, as well as children and family welfare.

However, you have the opportunity to work in unique workplaces such as in hospitals, clinics and outpatient care settings. This way you get to work with people through different stages of recovery. If that doesn’t take your fancy, then you have the ability to take your newly learned skills to a corporate environment by being able to people manage. When an employer sees you have these kinds of flexible modern skills they are more likely to shortlist your resume.

Passion outside of work

Going the extra mile reassures employers they are betting on a good egg. This means doing something outside of work that would further your chances of understanding of the work you do. For example, compile a report that shows how the company has grown or how an idea has evolved over time without being told to do so. This would be something extra to be noted that you have a broader understanding of your industry.

It’s not always you, so don’t take it so hard on yourself when you resume is not taken further. But give yourself the best chance to proceed with modern accreditations.
