A team of cybersecurity and internet safety experts have launched the world’s first online membership service, designed to help parents navigate the minefield of online safety.
Founder, 32-year-old Jonny Pelter, who has previously worked with Shell, Schroders, JPMorganChase, KPMG and Deloitte, created SimpleCyberLife.com to support parents in protecting their families from threats such as cyberbullying, sextortion, social media hijacking, online grooming, email hacking, identity theft and online fraud.
Frustrated by the lack of quality and affordable support available to everyday families, founder of Simple Cyber Life Jonny Pelter said: “The current way of supporting parents with a once-per-year school presentation is wholly ineffective. During these internet safety talks, parents get bombarded with alarming stories for over an hour, scaring them witless with indulgent descriptions of everything that can possibly go wrong. Worst of all, there is no support for them after they leave. They return home with more questions than answers and have limited outlets to get the expert advice they need. Understandably parents get overwhelmed, paralysed by the complexity of it all, resulting in no protection at all.”
He added, “Conversely, we focus less on the scaremongering and more on empowering parents with the know-how to stay safe online, use technology responsibly and improve digital literacy. We focus on simple, practical and pragmatic advice that can be easily implemented, all delivered online in a consumable format. Critically, we then offer them support for any questions they might have.”
He is building a team of experts, such as Elizabeth Milovidov, a renowned internet safety expert with a legal background related to child online protection, digital citizenship and digital parenting.
Simple Cyber Life, the new online subscription service will educate, empower and support members to identify, prevent and resolve security and safety issues. The launch on February 3rd is just in time for Safer Internet Day on February 11th, the following week.
For £3.99 per month (£44.99 per year), parents will be able to assess what protection their family needs, then receive expert guidance on how to get their protection in place, via video tutorials, instruction manuals and podcasts.
They can also use the platform to receive personal support from our experts via the online discussion forum, monthly Q&A webinars or 1-to-1 coaching calls if they’re having issues or have questions. “It’s time to modernise how we protect our families from cyber crime and empower parents with the know-how on how to protect their families, themselves,” Jonny Pelter said.
