Nearly everyone in 2023 has a cell phone. Kids are given them at younger and younger ages. There are many practical reasons for owning one, and even many longtime holdouts have purchased one.
There are some surprising factors that can get in the way of your cell phone signal that you should watch out for in your daily life, though. We will talk about some of them right now.
Windows and Glass
It might surprise you to learn that some windows and glass can block your cell phone signal. You can get a cell phone booster for office building usage, which can help. Still, if you work in a tall building in a downtown metropolitan area, it should not shock you if all the windows and glass that surround you work against having a crystal clear cell phone signal sometimes.
Fiberglass Insulation Around You
You have probably seen fiberglass insulation before. It’s that pink fuzzy stuff that’s in many walls and ceilings. It serves a purpose, but it can also block you from having the best possible cell phone coverage. Getting away from walls and ceilings that are stuffed with it can sometimes improve your signal.
Too Much Network Traffic
You likely know that 5G exists these days, and where it has not been installed yet, cell phone companies are working busily to set it up. 5G means better network reception. However, even 5G can’t guarantee you’ll have a clear signal during times of the day when many more people than normal are using a cellular network.
If you’re not getting a clear signal, the reason could simply be that too many individuals are trying to make calls at the same time. Being a little patient and placing a call later might be the most realistic option at that point.
Natural Elements that Surround You
The configuration of natural marvels close to you, such as mountains, tall trees, or huge rocks can all block your cell phone reception. It’s not something you probably think about until it’s happening to you, but being in areas where Mother Nature is in charge is likely to block your cell phone signal.
Moving to a different location is your best move if that happens. Somewhere with no tall trees, rocks, and so forth is likely a better spot for you to try your call.
Not Enough Bandwidth
Some people view cell phones as modern miracles, and it’s easy to get into that mindset. They’re essentially fully functional computers that you’re carrying around in your pocket. While they’re capable of a lot, they still have some of the limitations that any computer does, though.
That means running too many apps on your phone can sometimes hamper your ability to get as clear of a signal as you would like. If you have too many websites open on a desktop or laptop, that can slow things down. It’s the same with a cell phone. Closing out some apps might get you the clear signal you want.
