There is always a first time for every entrepreneur. If you are starting a business for the very first time, you need all the advice there is to starting a business. But it is just advice, the real thing is out there waiting for you. You can only experience it if you start now. Go ahead and solve that problem. For all you know there are hundreds if not thousands of people with the same frustration who needs a solution. The following will be useful along the way.

  1. Perseverance is important because, in a startup, nothing goes according to plan.
  2. Founders live day to day with a sense of uncertainty, isolation, and sometimes lack of progress.
  3. Startups, by their nature, are doing new things— and when you do new things, people often reject you.
  4. Make sure you write a business plan because it will crystallize your thoughts to communicate your ideas with somebody else.
  5. “Don’t worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you’ll have to ram them down people’s throats.” Howard Aiken
  6. You need to be adaptable, because the plan will probably change along the way
  7. Starting a startup is a process of trial and error. Be prepared for it.
  8. Never loss sight of making things that people actually want. You don’t want to wait precious time building a product nobody wants.
  9. Time is always critical. Launch early and iterate.
  10. Take  time to understand the dynamics of your industry, and be fast about that. Nobody is waiting whilst you learn. Learning on the job has been helpful for others.
